Environmental Education

The Reserve frequently hosts visits by school groups and environmental clubs. These visits are always a big success! Children are naturally inquisitive about the local species, and their interactions.

The trails are perfect for guiding groups to points of interest, such as the viewpoint and arboretum. There are plenty of reasons to stop and point out local flowering species and other species of interest. These walks can be hosted with a knowledgeable and responsible Reserve volunteer.

The Reserve’s proximity to town centre makes it an easy and safe option to introduce children to our natural heritage and in so doing foster a sense of stewardship and enjoyment of the natural world.

Little delights like the local cousin of the venus flytrap, Drosera species, always leave an impression. School tours can be arranged by contacting info@pledgenaturereserve.org and new groups and clubs are very welcome.
