Volunteer
The community of Knysna is a key supporter of the Reserve. The input of these valuable citizens cannot be overstated. Without the assistance of the public the Reserve would have battled to clear the thousands of alien tree seedlings that germinated in the Reserve after the 2017 Knysna Fires burnt through almost the entire 10ha. In line with this, among the many odd jobs and efforts required to keep the Reserve in as pristine and accessible state as possible, regular alien weed clearing is led by the head of the management committee and local horticulturist, Nanna Joubert, every second Wednesday at 9:30 (contact info@pledgenaturereserve.org).
Community engagement in the form of tree planting, social media marketing, fund-raising, indigenous plant donations, nursery jobs such as plant propagation, and manning the gate and telephone are also appreciated. If you are interested to get involved as an individual, a team, or a company, please do not hesitate to contact us.
